Contributed by Lori, mother of Jennifer and Josilyn, Windrush students
Josilyn is 11 years old and has Cystic Fibrosis. During one of her hospital stays at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) her physical therapist asked her if she liked horses and the conversation went on regarding how it would help with her posture, her mind and spirit.
I looked into it and this is how we got involved with Windrush Farm.
But my other reasons for it, is to build fond memories between my two girls.
Jennifer is 13 years old and doesn’t have CF. She is very healthy, has perfect attendance in school, runs track, cheerleading, has great friends, a nice social life and is a wonderful sister to Josilyn.
Josilyn has a great group of friends in school and in the neighborhood. She also does cheerleading, softball and a host of other activities, but they do them separately.
Riding together will give them the memories of a lifetime. They talk about the horses they ride, their horses' personalities and they share the excitement together.
It gives them time away from the every day stresses in life and in that hour per week they can look across the arena and see each other riding and it is so beautiful to watch that.
I am so proud of my girls and how much they love riding. I wish I could send them year round with their other activities it wouldn’t work out. So from January to March they ride! And it is a beautiful thing!
God Bless Lori
Olivia rides now at Back Bay Farm, but used to ride at Windrush with Josilyn. Wer’e glad to hear your’e doing well and still riding!!!
Love,
Gerri and Olivia
